In to Istanbul

Well, after a bit of a layover in Newark, as well as waiting (on the plane) for nearly an hour to clear a technical fault (United, here is a hint - it is never ok to turn off the fans - even for two minutes - when it is running 100 F outside and people are stuck in the plane) we made our way over to Istanbul.

It's a long flight getting here. Around 9 hours. Coupled with the flight to Newark, we are both pretty tired. So really, this is a quick update just to say we made it in safe and sound.

The hotel we are at seems great. I couldn't quite literally hit the Hagia Sophia with a rock from our window (I would get arrested anyhow), but I could come pretty close.  I'd say it's no more than 150 m away. Wow!

It's currently 4:00 pm here (7:00 am in AB). Aoife is determined to find a Turkish bath, so off we will go.

Talk to you all soon,

Paul and Aoife.
